Sherri Kay: The Queen of OTE!

Posted on by Bonnie Rodriguez

What is it that drives a 79-year-old grandmother of 5 to put herself at the top of the 10-story Keyes Building on a breezy day?  “I have always believed in the mission of Youth for Christ,” said Sherry Kay, who has raised nearly $30,000 for at-risk kids throughout Miami-Dade through Miami YFC’s annual Over the Edge event.

Born in Panama City, Florida, Sherry was part of a military family, living in Japan and Georgia before returning to South Florida.  She graduated from South Dade Senior High School and attended the University of Miami, then flew around the world for many years as a flight attendant.  During her aviation career, she was even the public announcement voice for National airlines!

Sherry was married to the love of her life, the late Dr. Calvin Kay, for 37 years, sharing medical missionary trips with him to South and Central America, where Dr. Kay performed many dental procedures on hundreds of needy patients.

Sherry is a member of Old Cutler Presbyterian Church where she currently leads a woman’s bible study and is the church-wide coordinator for Operation Christmas Child.

“If young people can come to know Jesus during their youth, they will be forever changed and will become contributors to society on many levels.  We have to invest in our kids’ futures, because that and the saving grace of our Lord Jesus is all we’ve got!” said Sherry.

You can join Sherri Kay this year - registration for OTE 2021 is open now!
